The "smart drive"
In this video we will look at the SmartDrive MX2+ by Permobil. This SmartDrive basically takes any manual wheelchair and turns it into an electric power chair.
- The installation is quick and simple.
- The SmartDrive weighs about 5.7 kilograms (12.5 pounds).
- Takes about 3 hours to fully charge the device.
- The SmartDrive has a driving range of about 23 kilometers (14 miles).
The SmartDrive pairs with a smart watch that allows you to control speed, acceleration, and track your usage of the SmartDrive.
Once everything is set up and connected, simply double tap your chair. If you are shopping for example, you can double tap the grocery cart, and the SmartDrive takes over. To turn off you double tap again.
I think the SmartDrive is a wonderful device that helps people in chairs make their life just a little easier. From a simple assist to doing to pushing for you. I have used the SmartDrive to walk the dog, grocery shopping, tackle uphill battles and through rough terrain, the list goes on.
